
CLUB RULES (2025)
All members of Egerton Park Indoor Bowls Club are required to be members of the company. All paid-up playing members are automatically members of the company and have entitlement to full use of the Limited Companies Facilities.
Non-playing members have entitlement to the club’s social activities only.
An elected Board of Directors conducts the business of the company with a minimum membership of THREE and a maximum of TEN. All Directors must be registered playing members. At the AGM, any Director that has served for three years must retire from office and is eligible to seek re-election if so desired.
The Board of Directors shall have the power to fill any vacancy which may occur during the year. Any member so appointed shall seek election at the next AGM.
The following rules are approved by the Board of Directors under the powers conferred upon them in accordance with the articles of association.
MEMBERSHIP OF THE CLUB
General Membership
Of the club shall be open to anyone interested in the sport of indoor bowls without discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religious or other beliefs, age or disability.
Playing Membership
Is open to anyone aged 18 years and over who pays the appropriate fees at the time of the written/verbal confirmation that their application to join has been officially accepted.
Junior Playing Members
Is open to anyone under the age of 18 years who pays the appropriate fees at the time of the written/verbal confirmation that their application to join has been officially accepted.
Non-Playing Membership
Is open to anyone aged 18 years and over who pays the appropriate fees at the time of the written/verbal confirmation that their application to join has been officially accepted.
Honorary Life Membership
May be conferred by the Board of Directors to any club member in recognition of outstanding and significant personal contribution to the club. The decision to confer Life Membership shall be confirmed by the members at the next AGM after the appointment. A life member shall have free membership for their lifetime but shall otherwise have the same rights as playing members.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Will consider ALL applications for membership. No person shall have the rights and privileges of membership UNTIL the board has given its approval and all necessary fees have been paid. The membership director will then advise the Centre Manager of the approval so that they may then be involved in all club activities.
The Board of Directors will determine membership subscriptions as required.
All annual subscriptions shall be made to
EGERTON PARK INDOOR BOWLS CLUB LTD.
by the 1st October each year, any member whose subscription is outstanding on the 15th October each year will forfeit the rights and privileges of the club until all arrears are paid.
Members whose subscription have lapsed for 12 months or more and who wish to re-join will be treated as new members unless the Board of Directors decide otherwise.
All persons holding affiliation to the English Indoor Bowls Association and their guests shall be permitted to enjoy the privileges of membership of the club on the day of their visit.
Restriction of Membership
The Board of Directors shall be permitted to decide the number of members according to Health and Safety regulations.
Voting Rights
All paid up, playing members will have one vote either by proxy or in person at any general meeting.
Non-Playing/Social members shall have no vote at a general meeting but may attend and speak.
OPENING TIMES
This will be at the discretion of the of the Board of Directors.
Normal hours are considered to be
Winter 8.30am to 10.00pm 7 days a week
Summer 8.30am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday.
Seven days’ notice will be given of any closure except in case of emergency.
THE BAR
The hours during which the bars shall be open will be in accordance with licensing laws.
In additions to members, sales of intoxicating liquor for the consumption on the premises are permitted for the following:
A: Members of other bowling clubs playing or competing on the club rinks, their guests, and officials.
B: Persons attending official functions authorised and approved by the Board of Directors.
Members will be held responsible for the conduct and behaviour of their guests.
Any member obtaining alcoholic drink for the consumption by persons under the age of 18 years will face the possibility of expulsion from the club.
PERSONAL GUESTS OF MEMBERS
A member may introduce a maximum of three guest on any one day. No member shall introduce any one guest into the club more than six times a year. Guests may not purchase intoxicating liquor unless accompanied by an introducing member.
CHILDREN AND ANIMALS
All children under the age of 14 years MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Persons under the age of 18 years shall NOT be permitted to purchase intoxicating liquor.
With the exception of assistance dogs, animals must not be brought into the club premises.
Those with assistance dogs must inform the centre manager of their entry.
PERSONAL PROPERTY
The club does not and will not accept liability for any loss or damage to personal property of all persons using the club. It is the responsibility of every member to ensure that bowling bags and clothing do not interfere with the comfort and free movement of members, players, and spectators. No bowls bags or personal equipment shall be left in the foyer or members area.
DRESS CODE
All players must wear the appropriate clothing as laid down by the Board of Directors. See notice boards and the club web site for current requirements.
BEHAVIOUR ON THE GREEN
Running, smoking, eating, and drinking on the green is “STRICTLY PROHIBITED”.
Substances which may damage the bowling carpet must not be used on the bowls or hands, e.g., GRIPPO.
Bowls not in use on the green must be placed in racks provided.
Members with lockers at the side of the green by rink 1 must have regard for any players playing on rink 1 when going to their lockers.
GREEN FEES
All green fees for members and visitors shall be as directed by the Board of Directors.
All green fees must be paid before commencing play.
CASUAL PLAY
The club shall be open for the playing of bowls on a casual basis as under OPENING TIMES by persons who are not members on payment of the casual play green fees, provided that there is a rink free, and they conform to the published dress code.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
All monies from the bar, green fees, raffles and member subscriptions must be submitted to the Centre Manager.
All decisions regarding finance, the building, and facilities is the direct responsibility of the Board of Directors. Any donations, loans, and sponsorships are the responsibility of the Board of Directors, only the Chairman and Company Secretary will know the name of any donors, lenders and sponsors, so to preserve confidentiality.
DAMAGE TO THE CLUB
Any person deliberately, wilfully, or negligently damaging any of the club’s property shall make good the same to the satisfaction of the Board of Directors.
COMPLAINTS
Suggestions and complaints shall in the first instance be made to the Centre Manager, if the member then feels the matter has not been resolved, then they should contact the Company Secretary in writing.
GENERAL
Members should carry their membership cards with then at all times whilst on the club premisses, the Centre Manager is authorised to conduct spot checks.
Members MUST NOT enter the kitchen area or behind the bar area for any reason unless authorised to do so. The Centre Manager or deputy only, may give this authority.
Members must not interfere with or change any of the controls for electrical or mechanical services, these are the responsibility of the Centre Manager or authorised persons. Litter must be place into suitable containers provided throughout the club.
Only food purchased at the club may be consumed within the club.
DISCIPLINARY POWERS
Any member alleged to have committed a breach of these rules, or to have acted in any way detrimental to the interests of the club within or outside the club premises may be required to appear before a Disciplinary Committee, the date of which must be within 14 days of the alleged offence.
AMEDMENTS TO THESE RULES
Any amendments to these rules may be made by the Board of Directors at any time for the purposes of good management. They are not subject to ratification at a general meeting.
GENERAL MEETINGS
The AGM of the company and the club shall be held within 6 months after the end of the financial year, for the purposes of transacting any relevant business and for the election of any nominated Directors. At least 8 weeks’ notice of the meeting shall be displayed on the club notice boards. Notice to convening the AGM shall be given to all members and shall be accompanied by the Agenda, Annual Reports, Statement of Accounts and Balance sheet. This notification may be by post or electronic methods. Resolutions for consideration at the AGM must be given or sent to the Company Secretary in writing not less than 30 days BEFORE the meeting.
Any playing member entitled to attend and vote at a general meeting may summon an extraordinary meeting or require one to be summoned at any time. This must be in writing to the Company Secretary accompanied by at least 50 names supporting the summons.
Such a meeting must then be held within 2 months of the summons.
FINANICAL YEAR
The company’s financial year is
1st September to 31st August.
